One of Australia’s most iconic brands R.M. Williams has launched a new installation centred in the heart of the men’s footwear department in London’s Liberty store. The launch marks only the beginning for activity based in the UK, as the rest of the year is a calendar full of pivotal digital projects, London store launches and a contemporary fresh marketing campaign.
L Capital Asia, a private equity firm sponsored by LVMH took on R.M. Williams back in 2014 and has since supplied significant investment into the brand. With a number of famous supporters, including Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig, the company has landed on Pommie shores. The brand provides all purposefully designed footwear, clothing and accessories and exports to over 15 countries with over 900 stockists worldwide.
Reginald Murray Williams, born and bred in the Australian outback, founded the company in 1932 after identifying a constant need for hardwearing products on his outback escapades. This is where the beautifully masculine and handcrafted boots were made; each shoe is handmade in the South Australian workshop using a single piece of leather with a stretched heel seam and distinctive pull tags. A Goodyear-welted construction is featured on every pair to ensure they effortlessly survive the harsh Australian landscape and endure whatever it has to offer.
The installation opening in Liberty features some of his key signature styles; the craftsman is included in chestnut and burnished leather, the signature craftsman will make an appearance in chestnut and black and the suede craftsman in black and navy with each pair ranging from £300 – £700.
The boots are a reflection of the legendary R.M. Williams, a man who features in and built part of the Australian Stockman’s hall of fame, Australia’s premier outback heritage institution.
